Kieran Gill

Hi, I’m Kieran, a Front-End Developer and a recent graduate of The School of Code’s 16-week intensive BootCamp.

Before beginning my journey into Tech I was an English Teacher for 9 years working in over 6 countries. I am now hoping to make a career pivot into the exciting world of tech.

About me

I began coding during the COVID lockdown and quickly fell in love with it after I managed to center my first div. Since then I have been on an exciting learning journey full of exhilarating peaks and character-building troughs. I love the joys of sharing the wins and small triumphs with my teams and coding partners, as we move towards our common goals.

My hobbies include running, resistance training, reading, gaming and playing fetch with my favourite canine, Dori. I enjoy travelling and exploring new worlds, but to be honest, these days, my perfect evening often involves lounging on a sofa whilst watching a good movie with my girlfriend.

My Projects

project

The Planets

A fully responsive Full-stack single page React application built with TypeScript that allows users to seamlessly explore detailed profiles of each planet in our solar system. Leveraging React Router for SPA navigation, Framer Motion for animated page transitions, and Styled Components. The frontend consumes data from a Supabase backend via API calls for scalable and reliable data storage.

project

Untrodden

Our final four week, full-stack project for the School of Code, made in four weeks using Nextjs, Nodejs, PostGresSQL, Mapbox, React Form Hook, Cloudinary and FormSpree. We worked in a team of five and it was an amazing experience to see the skills we have learned over the past few months culminate into this final project.

project

Github User Search App

A React-based web application built with TypeScript that allows users to search for GitHub users by username and view their profiles. The app leverages the GitHub API to fetch user data and includes responsive design, error handling, and a dark mode theme feature.

project

Sunnyside Agency Landing Page

A fully responsive landing page for a fictional agency, built with HTML and CSS; utilising grid and flexbox. I used a Figma design brief from FrontendMentors.io. The aim was to match the original design brief as closely as possible.

project

Portfolio MVP

Created with Nextjs, my main aim for this project was to get a presentable version of it ready by the School of Code’s graduation event. Thus, It might not have all the bells and whistles that I would like, but I think it gets the job done and is fully responsive for desktop, mobile and tablet.

project

form-component

A simple component build vith vanilla JS, HTML and CSS using a design brief provided by FrontendMentors.com. It was a great chance to practice client-side validation using Javascript. I expanded on the design brief a bit by adding a "success" message as well as UI elements to let the user know if their input was accepted as well as rejected.
